Your mattress is one of the most used items in your home—but often the least cleaned. Proper maintenance can extend its life, improve your sleep, and reduce allergens.

Here’s how to keep your mattress fresh and supportive:

✅ Step 1: Rotate It Regularly

Why: Rotating helps prevent dips, sags, and uneven wear—especially if you sleep on one side more than the other.

How:

  • Frequency: Every 3 months

  • Method: Turn the mattress 180 degrees (head to foot).

  • Note: If your mattress is flippable (many aren’t), flip it over too.

✅ Step 2: Vacuum Thoroughly

Why: Mattresses accumulate dead skin cells, dust mites, and debris over time.

How:

  • Use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner.

  • Pay attention to seams, crevices, and under pillows.

  • Do this every 1–2 months.

✅ Step 3: Deodorise & Refresh

Why: Over time, sweat and humidity can make your mattress smell musty.

How:

  • Sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface.

  • Let sit for 30–60 minutes to absorb odours.

  • Vacuum it up thoroughly.

  • Optional: Add a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil to the baking soda for a light scent and added antibacterial properties.

🧼 Bonus Tip: Use a Mattress Protector

It acts as a barrier against sweat, spills, and allergens—and it’s machine washable. Clean your protector monthly and replace it yearly.

😴 Why It Matters

Clean mattresses = better sleep, fewer allergies, and a longer lifespan for your bedding investment.

Set a reminder to rotate and refresh your mattress every season—it’s a simple routine with big benefits.
